I didn’t buy the book because it was very expensive. Instead, I sat down at Fully Booked Serendra, forgot lunch and read it for whole 2 hours.
I didn’t like the cover because it gave me the creeps, so this was suppose to be the new brand of children’s books? A fascinating dark fairytale for teens. A sort of kid-friendly horror-tale — the movie is even greater!!! A story of courage, wit and guts shown by a child. It is one of the most different books I have read. The author weaved the story perfectly, creating a clear scenario of events and leaving anticipation to readers of what will happen next..
A brand new version of Alice in wonderland, it reminded me a lot of the girl whofollowed the rabbit. (Was it really one?) Anyway, Coraline’s journey started when she found a door in the drawing room leading nowhere since it was all bricked up. The next day, when she returned to open it with a key, it led to an apartment to her “OTHER PARENTS” who looked exactly like her parents only that their eyes were made of buttons. She was asked to stay, showered with attention and gifts unlike her real parents who never seem to have time for her. But when she returned home, she found out that her real parents were missing…
